IP telephony support
There are two VoIP protocols supported by UserGate, SIP, and H.323. UserGate works as a VoIP proxy-server, allowing the users in a local network to connect to their VoIP service providers. Support for H.323 allows for using the program as an H.323 Gatekeeper.

SIP
SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) is a standard for initiating, changing, and ending user sessions, which includes multimedia elements, such as video and voice, instant messaging, online games, and virtual reality. The popularity of SIP is largely the result of the low cost of Internet calls compared to regular telephone systems and cellular phones. In UserGate 5.0, SIP support is implemented as a stateful SIP proxy.
