Resource publishing
UserGate allows you to provide access to a service running inside the local network, such as a Web, FTP, VPN, or mail server. Technically, this is done by creating a rule in the program’s Advanced Firewall. When you create a rule with a WAN adapter specified as a destination, UserGate automatically assigns the ‘Translation’ type for that rule. When setting up a rule, you can specify for which protocol or service (e.g. HTTP, FTP, POP3, etc.) it is to be used, the source IP address or range, and finally, the IP address and port of a computer in the local network where you want the requests to be translated.
The resource publishing feature is often used not only for Web, mail, and FTP servers, but for other user-specific applications as well, such as netbanking, peer-to-peer, Internet-telephony, and so forth. Whatever the network application into which you need to provide external access, you can do so with UserGate.
